Paul Hales is an attorney licensed to practice before the Supreme Court of the United States, a graduate of Columbia University Law School and a Senior Counselor of the Missouri Bar. He manages an international health information privacy and security consulting practice based in St. Louis. Paul began his legal career as an appellate lawyer in the office of the noted civil rights attorney Louis Gilden. As a partner at Goldstein and Price, Paul specialized in admiralty and maritime litigation and appeals, including multi-district federal litigation, and developed a business and estate planning practice. The hallmark of Paul’s career is innovation, recently exemplified by the development of The HIPAA E-Tool®, an Internet-based Software as a Service product for health information privacy education and compliance with separate editions for health care providers, health plans, business associates and third-party administrators. He wrote all the content in The HIPAA E-Tool® and keeps it current. Paul gives frequent educational presentations explaining health information privacy and security law clearly in plain language.
